Located in the dense urban fabric of Dhanmondi, Dhaka, the Beximco Healthcare redefines the experience of healthcare architecture. From the ground to 9th floor, the building houses diagnostic facilities, while the 10th to 18th floors accommodate corporate offices. The design aims to break away from the fear and monotony often associated with medical centers, replacing them with spaces that feel restorative, open, and human-centered.

In a context where open green space is scarce, the building introduces a vertical garden strategy. Each floor integrates greenery, while the north-east and east terraces unfold into landscaped gardens with bamboo, beli, kamini, and flowering plants. These species were selected not only for their fragrance and visual comfort but also for their ecological role—attracting butterflies, birds, and pollinators. As a result, the building becomes a pocket of biodiversity within the crowded city.

Natural light and ventilation strongly guided the orientation. The south-east breeze ensures cross-ventilation, while north-facing openings bring in diffused daylight, reducing dependence on artificial cooling and lighting. This creates a more sustainable and comfortable interior environment.

Psychological wellbeing was a central consideration. Waiting areas, usually stressful in diagnostic centers, are visually connected to gardens, making the act of waiting less anxious and more restorative. Patients and visitors are encouraged to spend time in the terraces, transforming their experience into one of healing and calmness.

Architecturally, the building blends warm tactile elements at the base, such as brick and wooden louvers, with a sleek glazed tower above. The green terraces punctuate the facade, ensuring the tower is perceived not as a sterile medical block, but as a living vertical oasis in the city.
